Lasallian Foundation

Charity: International Aid

The Lasallian Foundation supports projects throughout the Asia-Pacific region that provide poor and disadvantaged children an opportunity to break the poverty cycle.

The Foundation was established in 2004 by the De La Salle Brothers of Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, to help meet the growing needs of poor children throughout the region.

Over many years, the De La Salle Brothers and committed lay partners have funded and established innovative projects across Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Pakistan.

The majority of projects funded are operated by local De La Salle Brothers and lay partners in the target countries. All projects are non-denominational and are staffed by people from all faith backgrounds.  The faith traditions of all beneficiaries are respected and the projects do not evangelise.

Typical projects include:
- primary and secondary school education
- vocational training, tuition centres and youth development programs
- residential care for orphaned, abandoned, or HIV affected boys and girls
- working children’s programs
- day care centres
- empowerment and human rights programs for women, children, the poor and the disabled
- micro-credit schemes for self-help groups

All projects are created, initiated, developed and implemented by local agencies on the ground in consultation with the beneficiaries.  The Foundation provides funding and capacity building support to the local agencies.

The Foundation also maintains a significant community education program with engagements at 17 De La Salle schools in Australia and New Zealand, and 4,000 newsletters reaching more than 17,000 individuals nationally.

The Lasallian Foundation is an approved overseas aid foundation in Australia and has Deductible Gift Registrant status. The Foundation raises funds through child sponsorship, major donations and fundraising by De La Salle Schools. It also receives an annual operational grant from the De La Salle Brothers District that covers all administrative costs including salaries.

This allows 100% of your donations to go to our overseas projects.
