Charity: Environment

Earthwatch Australia has been helping to protect our planet for more than 25 years by bringing scientists and volunteers together to help research, protect and conserve our environment through hands-on education and better understanding and awareness.

Globally, Earthwatch has engaged around 80,000 volunteers who have contributed more than 11 million hours to scientific research. In the life of a scientist, this equates to more than 5,000 years of research time on 2,000 Earthwatch projects across 82 different countries.

Over the years, Earthwatch volunteers have helped scientists discover new frog species in Australian national parks and helped to conserve land for threatened species also leading to changed logging practices in the central highlands of Victoria.

Our research however needs to continue as scientists have discovered that rising temperatures in Queensland's Wet Tropics rainforests will threaten over 50% of the unique endemic species living in these areas with extinction.

Earthwatch’s independently audited Research Fund guarantees that 100% of all donations go directly towards our research programs.  By making a donation you can help us by committing to conserving the diversity and integrity of life on Earth to meet the needs of current and future generations.
