RACQ CareFlight Rescue helps 700 sick and injured people throughout southern Queensland every year. Provision of our helicopter services costs up to $10m each year, almost half of which needs to be raised through the community.
With a critical care doctor and QAS paramedic on board for every mission, CareFlight Rescue is provided to residents and visitors of communities within our flight region 24/7, at no direct cost to patients.
The services CareFlight Rescue provides include;
Inter-Hospital Transfers: Air Ambulance services to transfer patients to the hospital that can give them the care that they need.
Neonatal Retrievals: Transferring newborn and premature babies to major city hospitals that have specialised neonatal intensive care units.
Primaries: Bringing medical care direct to patients, at the scene of their accident.
Search and Rescues: Performing air search missions for persons missing at sea or in bushland and bringing them back to safety.
